Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

Modern slavery and human trafficking are serious crimes and a gross violation of fundamental human rights.

Webb Hotel Group is committed to acting in an honest, ethical and responsible manner with transparency in all business dealings. We respect the human rights of every team member and every worker supplying goods or services to us and we take our responsibilities seriously under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.  We have a zero-tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking and we expect the same from our suppliers and contractors.

We are dedicated to understanding the risks so that we can work towards ensuring that there is no modern slavery in our business or supply chains.

Our Company

Webb Hotel Group is a family run business made up of four properties and a Head Office. The Company employs around 350 staff.

Our Supply Chains

Our suppliers cover all goods and services used in the running of a hotel from food and beverages, linen and cleaning supplies to fixtures, fittings, equipment and maintenance services. We also work with employment agencies that supply a limited number of people to work in our hotels.

Webb Hotel Group expects all of its suppliers, contractors and service providers to act ethically and with integrity and to have effective systems, safeguards and controls in place to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in their own business or in their supply chains.

Key procurement for suppliers is managed at a central head office level. We select our suppliers carefully and where appropriate carry out due diligence on these parties and endeavour to contractually require them to comply with applicable laws.

Anti-Slavery Initiatives and Policies

Our commitment to social responsibility is reflected in our employee training programmes and company policies and we expect the same high standards from our suppliers.

We have a Modern Slavery Policy which reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

We conduct ‘right-to-work’ checks on all new colleagues to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will.

We undertake regular checks on shift patterns and the hours worked by our colleagues and understand the importance of focusing on having a culture of engaging in all activities with respect and fair treatment of others.

We encourage our colleagues to report any ethical concerns and our Whistleblowing Policy is intended to make this easy for all colleagues. We aim to ensure that appropriate protections are in place for any colleague who raises a concern, without fear of retaliation.

We recognise that awareness amongst our colleagues is important in preventing modern slavery. We train all of our team members on Modern Slavery. This training explains what Modern Slavery is, identifies signs of Modern Slavery and how to report any concerns.

Review and Monitoring

We recognise that this is an area which requires continual monitoring and improvement and we will continue to do this.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ended 31 December 2022.

This statement has been approved by Webb Hotel Group’s board of directors, who will review and update it annually.
